• Realise that their text books are products of writers’ decisions and where the information they contain comes from.
• Develop and deepen their knowledge of school subjects by considering them in the light of university and different subjects.
• Learn to address topics at different spatial scales, i.e. at hometown, regional, national, European, and global levels.
• Learn to create content that is directed towards a purpose, i.e. they’ll present to their peers.
• Obtain skills for their personal education and the workplace, skills previously acquired only at third level.
Stimulating education systems
Whether coming through the Leaving Certificate stream, adult education or from outside the formal education system, students will be positioned to overcome the well documented shortcomings that make life at third level more difficult than is necessary.
Students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can take part.
Yes, tackling social exclusion is a motivation for Sesadi.
Incidentally, there’s a bonus for third level institutions.
The Sesadi approach will produce students who will not require some of the first year skills courses and tutorials.
The time and resources previously used teaching basic skills can be devoted to more relevant and advanced learning.
